Local student certified as Monmouth College tutor

MONMOUTH, Ill.—Kaity Washburn of Morris has received certification from the College Reading and Learning Association for his/her work as a tutor at Monmouth College.

A junior accounting major, Washburn has to date completed 27 hours of tutoring in Accounting through the college’s Teaching and Learning Center. All tutors must complete 10 hours of training and at least 25 active hours of tutoring to receive certification.

During the fall semester, Monmouth student tutors assisted 159 of their peers, combining for more than 600 visits.

Washburn is the daughter of Jeanne and Eric Washburn of Morris.
