Youth Roundup: Morris Tomahawks second at Challenger Classic

The Morris Tomahawks 11-under travel team took second place at the Charger Challenge in Oak Park in recent days. The locals went 2-1 in pool play and then 3-1 in elimination play.

Tomahawks 9,

Troy 3

Jacob Allgeyer was the winning pitcher while Cole Laurie was 4-for-4 with three runs scored at the plate. Payton Cummings had three hits and Izzac Avalos two.

Chargers 3,

Laurie was the losing pitcher in relief of Andrew Hipes. Hipes and Zach Reddinger had two hits each on offense.

Tomahawks 8,

Lemont 3

Evan Briones was the winning pitcher in relief of Allgeyer. At the plate, Briones was 4-for-4 with two RBI and both Allgeyer and Laurie also had two hits.

Tomahawks 8,

Palos 4

Jacob Janovyak was the winning pitcher with relief help from Nate Jepsen. At the plate, Cummings was 3-for-3 with two RBI and both Nate Jepsen and Laurie had two hits each.

Tomahawks 7,

Plainfield 6, 8 innings

Cummings was the winning pitcher in relief of Briones. At the plate, Cummings had two hits and two RBI and Logan Deceatis had a hit and two RBI, including the game-winner in the eighth.

Team Demarini 7

Cole Laurie was the winning pitcher in relief of Andrew Hipes and Janovyak. At the plate, Cummings was 4-for-5 with two RBI and Deceatis was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Janovyak had two hits.

Wheatland 7,

Tomahawks 3

Laurie had two hits and Deceatis two RBI in the loss. Cummings also had a hit and an RBI.

Briones was the losing pitcher in relief of Allgeyer.

ReMax Top Properties 18

Fraternal Order of Eagles 6

Payton Sterritt, Anthony Xydakis, Will Knapp, and Ashton Yard all batted 4-for-4, leading the ReMax Warriors.

Christian Delegado, Drew Brady, and Will Knapp led the charge on the defensive side. 

For the Eagles, Shane Potter and Dylan Skubic both batted 3-for-3, with Potter launching a solo home run. Mikane Didier and Mark Kiger stood out on the defensive side for the Eagles.

Remax Top Properties 30,

All Purpose Plumbing 6

Anthony Xydakis, Will Knapp, Ashton Yard, Chris Harris, Gaving Quevedo, Drew Danek, Jack Wheeler, and Payton Sterritt went 5 for 5 to lead Remax Top Properties past All Purpose Plumbing 30-6.  Will Knapp had a 3 run HR.  Jake Volk went 3 for 4 and Carter Laudeman went 3 for 3 for All Purpose Plumbing.  Defensively Anthony Xydakis and Ashton Yard played lights out for Remax Top Properties, while Kade Maddox and Austin Lewis lead the way for All Purpose Plumbing.
