CHANNAHON — On April 22, the Channahon Grade School District 17 board heard a report from finance manager Mike Schroeder regarding the school district’s EAV and tax rate.

Will County released the equalized assessment values for the school district, and its total EAV is $622.8 million, with new property at $34.1 million. The 2012 tax rate for the school district is 2.8076, which is .1269 higher than the 2011 rate.

If the district had not abated $442,403 this year with the specific goal of keeping the rate from climbing too high too quickly, the 2012 rate would have been 2.8785.
