MORRIS LIBRARY: Movie night planned for teens

The Morris Area Public Library’s movie night for teens in May will take place at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 23.

Featured will be the movie “Beautiful Creatures,” based on the popular novel by Kami Garcia.

Ethan longs to escape his small Southern town. He meets a mysterious new girl, Lena. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town.

I & M Canal Program

More than 150 years ago, a waterway construction project took place in Illinois that enhanced transportation and shipping not only in the state of Illinois, but also for the East coast and the Gulf of Mexico.

In “Today and Yesterday,” local historians Brian Nolan and Patrick Rooney will present their original DVD of a history of the Illinois & Michigan canal and take questions on the wonders of this picturesque and unique national treasure.

The program is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4.

The DVD will be on sale after the program.
