Mrs. Patsy Ann Zimmerman 60, of Morris, Ill., and formerly of Dwight, Ill., passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice at 9:18 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, with Pastor Avery Wilson of Coal City 1st Bastist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Southside Apostolic Cemetery in Forrest, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Patsy was born June 18, 1952, at Blytheville, Ark., to Carl Loften and Imogene Copeland Sipes. She married Steven R. Zimmerman Jan. 16, 1981, in Pontiac, Ill.
She is survived by her husband; father; mother; four sisters, Peggy Sipes of Dwight, Doris (Richard) Thompson of Wetumpka, Ala., Betty Sassenger of Dwight, and Joan (David) Cleeton of Mazon, Ill.; a brother, Andy (Tammy) Sipes of Forrest; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by a brother, Carl Sipes Jr.
Patsy worked at R.R. Donnelley for 37 years, most recently as a Quality Assurance Support 3.
Patsy had many interests and hobbies in life, some of which were traveling, photography, and exploring this great country, especially California. She also loved to research and document family history. She collected dolls, books, and other antique items.
Patsy had a high level of perserverence at everything she did. She fought a courageous 25-year battle against breast and bone cancer.
