MORRIS — In honor of Memorial Day, the Grundy County Board during its meeting tonight will recognize the service of two former Minooka residents, Wayne and Cecil Thompson.

Wayne and Cecil were brothers who served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, with Wayne making the ultimate sacrifice for his country at Iwo Jima.

After World War II, Cecil continued to proudly serve his country by re-enlisting in the USMC and serving in Korea.

The recognition ceremony will begin prior to the board meeting, beginning at 6 p.m., with the Presentation of Colors and The Marine Hymn, followed by a presentation to members of the Thompson family.
