Morris Hospital hosting blood drive May 23

Morris Hospital is hosting a blood drive in cooperation with Heartland Blood Centers from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in Education Rooms 2 & 3 on the lower level of Morris Hospital, 150 W. High Street in Morris. Each donor will receive a $10 Target gift card.

In order to donate blood, potential donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and feeling well on the day of donation, and be at least 17 years old. In Illinois, 16-year-olds may donate with written approval from a parent or guardian.

The entire process for donating blood takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Donors should bring a photo ID with proof of age. Those planning to donate eat within four hours preceding the donation.

Appointments are recommended by calling Morris Hospital at 815-705-7370. Walk-ins are also welcome.
