KANKAKEE — Luella Kellogg of Morris was been elected chairman of the board of the Agency on Aging of Northeastern Illinois at the annual meeting held on Friday, April 12, in Kankakee.
She also serves on the board’s Legislative and Nominating Committees.
Jessica Bannister of Oswego, was re-elected to the board of directors and Rae Ann Van Gundy of Yorkville was re-elected to the Advisory Council. She also serves on the board’s Planning Committee.
The featured speaker was Ann Ford, executive director of the Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living.
She discussed the growing collaboration between aging and disability networks and their overlapping goals and programs.
The Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a nonprofit organization responsible for developing and coordinating a network of services for older persons throughout an eight-county area in northeastern Illinois.
The agency informs and advises public and private agencies and the general public of the needs of older persons living in the area and acts as an advocate on their behalf.
The agency on aging serves DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.
Fund allocation hearing
The Agency on Aging of Northeastern Illinois will hold public hearings at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, on the proposed allocation of funds for senior services in its eight county service area in FY14, including $323,246 in Grundy County.
The public hearing focused on funding in Grundy, Kankakkee, Kendall, and Will counties will be held at the Gladys Fox Museum, 231 East Ninth, Lockport.
In Grundy County, the agency proposes to allocate the following amounts for services for people aged 60 and older and for caregivers for those aged 60 and older in Fiscal Year 2014:
• Case Coordination Unit Access Services - $62,667
• Flexible Community Services, inc. Emergency Support - $3,917
• Legal Services - $13,708
• Congregate Meals - $35,903
• Home Delivered Meals - $107,056
• Congregate & Home Delivered Meal Commodities - $26,099
• Counseling - $24,153
• Residential Repair & Renovation - $969
• Home Injury Control - $1,772
• Elder Abuse Intervention - $324
• Caregiver Resource Center - $18,534
• Caregiver Counseling Center - $5,828
• Long Term Care Ombudsman - $15,462
• SHAP Pharmaceutical Assistance Outreach - $6,854
TOTAL - $323,246
Several other allocations are proposed for region-wide services or direct service.
These proposed allocations are for FY14 which will begin Oct. 1, 2013.
