Liberty 5K run plans to be fun, patriotic

Start Independence Day festivities early this year with some good fun and exercise. On July 3, the Grundy County Farm Bureau Foundation and the Morris Downtown Development Partnership will host the 4th annual Liberty 5K Run/Walk back to downtown Morris.

The Liberty Run 5K Run/Walk will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 in downtown Morris.

Beginning at Liberty and Jefferson streets, the course will take runners through Nostalgic Downtown Morris, area parks, neighborhoods and returns downtown on Liberty Street.

The course is completely paved, primarily flat, with some slight hills for a fast and enjoyable race. The Liberty 5K is a chip-timed race on a certified course. 

The event honors, supports and recognizes our military personnel Local Marines will join the run while singing cadence.

Pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female racers overall and in each age bracket. In addition, there will be awards for the top two male and female veterans. The cost is $25 for pre-registered participants and $30 for those who register the day of the race.
