Calories in coffee drinks add up

It’s easy for us to forget that our beverages contribute calories to our daily intake.  The sandwich we eat at lunch has to be much higher than the coffee we drink on the way to work right?

Believe it or not, one fancy coffee drink can contain nearly as many calories as a whole meal.

This week the Northwest Herald posted an AP story noting that Starbucks will be following suit with other chain restaurants, posting calorie levels of their beverages and foods.

This is good news since some of their fancier drinks average around 250 calories each, with White Chocolate Mocha and Hot Chocolate topping the drink menu with close to 500 calories in the “venti.”

Oh, and don’t forget the yummy pastry that goes with the drink accounting for another 300-500 calories!

Yes, my friends.  There is usually a reason for why some things taste so good.
