System currently includes only landlines

The Grundy County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) has recently deployed an updated “Reverse 911” system that is used for emergency public notification.

This notification tool is available to the county, as well as local municipalities. Certain abnormal situations, such as missing persons, HAZMAT incidents, and road closures, warrant notification of the public.

Currently, the system includes all landline telephones in Grundy County.

However, recent trends have suggested that individuals are relying solely on mobile/cellular phones or VOIP phones.

These types of phones will not automatically receive the notification.

The vendor, Cassidian, has, however, provided a “Self-Registration Portal” that allows residents to register their phones and email addresses to receive these notifications based on a registered address.

If you would like to register your mobile phone or VOIP phone please go to https://grundyinfo.onthealert.com/, agree to the terms and conditions, and fill out the registration form.

Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan indicated a link to the Self-Registration Portal has also been placed on the sheriff’s department Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/GrundyCountySheriff.
