The Radiation Therapy Center of Morris Hospital is hosting two support programs for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.

For women undergoing cancer treatment, “Look Good … Feel Better” will be offered Monday, July 8 from 1-3 p.m. at the Morris Regional Oncology Center, 1600 W. U.S. Route 6 in Morris.

Held in cooperation with the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) and the National Cosmetology Association, (NCA), this free American Cancer Society sponsored program is designed to teach beauty techniques to help overcome the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

During Look Good Feel Better, trained, volunteer cosmetologists will teach women how to cope with skin changes and hair loss using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. Free cosmetic kits are provided to participants, and women will also learn ways to disguise hair loss with wigs, scarves and other accessories.

The “I Can Cope” Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, July 11 from 1-3 p.m. The topic of discussion is “Communicating Concerns and Feelings” with a focus on the emotions associated with a cancer diagnosis and how those feelings affect a person’s relationships with others.

Registration is requested by going to  www.morrishospital.org/events or by calling the Radiation Therapy Center of Morris Hospital at (815) 364-8915.
