Anna Mae Blake

JOLIET, Ill. — Mrs. Anna Mae Blake, 83, of Joliet, Ill., passed away at her home, with her loving family by her side, Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, Ill., with Pastor Rodney Juell officiating. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Fruland Funeral Home.

Born June 23, 1930, in Mazon, Ill., she was the daughter of Noble and Anna (Skogen) Benson. She graduated from Mazon High School with the Class of 1948.

Anna married John “Jack” Blake on July 3, 1954, in Morris. Later, she received her nursing degree from Silver Cross Hospital. She served as head surgical nurse at Silver Cross Hospital, director of nursing at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet, and retired from Illinois Department  of Corrections.

Survivor’s include her children, Jacqueline (Chris) Prebe of Manhattan, Ill., William (Tami) Blake of Morris, John A. Blake Jr. of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jim (Tami) Blake of Joliet; six grandchildren, Melissa (Trent) Klicker, Michele (Justin) Miller, Julianna Prebe, Olivia Blake, Michele Prebe and Jimmy Blake; seven great-grandchildren, Cole, Abby, Maddy and Casey Klicker, Gage Cheney, Mya Blake and Blakely Miller; two brothers, Ronald (Jan) Benson of Morris and Dave (Daylene) Benson of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her loving husband, John Blake, on Aug. 5, 2002; one grandson, William L. Blake IV, on March 13, 2008; four brothers, Jay, Donald, Kenneth and Gerald Benson; and two sisters, Bernice Thorson and Melva Welch.

She belonged to several business organizations and clubs.

Anna enjoyed reading, traveling, doing puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
