CHANNAHON, Ill. — Mr. Robert G. “Bob” Rich of Channahon, Ill., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the age of 72.
Born in Tompkinsville, Ky., the son of the late Rad and Ceretha Rich, he was the beloved husband of Carole (Wilson) Rich; dearly loved father of Renita Flores, the late Anthony Rich, Kelly (Edward) Sowinski and Julie (Matthew) Beland; proud grandfather of Mavis (Steven) Batey, Marcus Flores, John and Kathleen Sowinski, and Carolyn, Robert and Erin Kate Beland; great-grandfather of Hunter and Caiden Batey; dear brother of Jessie (Linda) Rich and Kathlyn (BR) Tade; fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; and the Dog Daddy of Minnie, Cocoa and Butters.
Fondly remembered for his care and compassion, Robert demonstrated his respect for the United States military by donating handcrafted walking canes to our veterans. He was a proud member of Local #150.
Funeral service for Robert G. Rich will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 5, at The Maple Funeral Home, 24300 W. Ford Road, Channahon, with the Rev. BR Tade officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation will also be on Friday, from noon until the service begins at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, preferred donations may be made to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Joliet.
