A letter to our readers

To the readers of the Morris Daily Herald:

After joining the Morris Daily Herald in November, I began — both as a new reader and as a member of the Morris Daily Herald’s leadership team — to evaluate our effectiveness.

I meet many people who tell me what they like about the Morris Daily Herald and our other publication, Minooka-Channahon Life, and what we can do better. Our goal is to continually improve our products and make them as useful and reader friendly as possible. We are committed to providing relevant news, information and entertainment to our readers, and effective marketing solutions for advertisers.

In order to remain strong and ensure a bright future for the Morris Daily Herald and our other products, we must be willing to change. Today, I’m announcing some exciting changes that will roll out on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

On that date, readers will see a bold, new Morris Daily Herald in a more readable, compact size. We will transition from the current “broadsheet” style to the reader-friendly “tab” size. Readers will immediately notice fresh, new feature content and columnists. We’ll also be adding a few new comics. Of course, the core of what readers expect from us — our award-winning local news content — will continue.

On Aug. 20, our delivery system will change as well. Subscribers will receive the Morris Daily Herald in their mailbox, instead of delivery by motor route driver or youth carrier. The move to same-day U.S. Postal Service delivery will provide our home delivery readers with the most reliable delivery available. Mail delivery offers superior protection from the weather, and will ensure our subscribers receive a clean, dry paper every time. We regret the impact on our current delivery carriers, but sincerely appreciate their outstanding service.

Morris Daily Herald editor Patrick Graziano will be writing more about these exciting changes in the coming weeks.

We invite questions, comments and suggestions from our readers. I can be reached at bwall@shawmedia.com.

Thank you for your continuing support of the Morris Daily Herald.
