COAL CITY, Ill. — Mr. John Friedle, 78, a long-time resident of Coal City, Ill., passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, in Mesa, Ariz., after an extended illness.
John was born Oct. 14, 1934, and spent much of his youth farming just outside of Verona, Ill. He married the former Nancy Jisa of Coal City on Sept. 19, 1959. He retired from Amoco Chemical, Channahon, after many years.
In 2006, John and Nancy moved to Mesa, but made frequent visits to Coal City.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Jisa) Friedle; two daughters, Marsha Johnsen of Coal City and Mary Friedle of Mesa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Josephine Winship of Verona; and by his son, Sgt. Michael John Friedle.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee St., Coal City. The Rev. Robert Noesen will officiate.
Immediately following the funeral services, a memorial luncheon and gathering will take place in the Berst Center. This will be held prior to the inurnment with full military honors, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in John's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Ariz., 85014.
