Edmond Leon Wright

WILMINGTON, Ill. — Mr. Edmond Leon “Ed” Wright, 81, of Wilmington, Ill., and formerly of Lenoir City, Tenn., passed away Monday evening, July 22, 2013, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno.

Born May 27, 1932, on a farm in Medicine Lodge, Kan., Edmond was the son of the late Rollie Lawrence and Josephine Coberley-Wright. He was raised and educated in Medicine Lodge prior to entering the service.

Ed served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was in the 4th Army, 62nd Army Band, and the 585th Air Force Band. He held two honorable discharges, served stateside, and his duties entailed that of a trombone player in the marching band.

Ed worked for more than 40 years as a long-distance semi-truck driver and terminal dispatcher. He worked for several companies, including Colonial and Refrigerated Transport, as well as dispatched from his home.

Survivors include his children, Edmond Wright Jr., Richard Wright, Judy Aikens, Doreen (Ronald L.) Fagin, Cindy Weis, Thomas Blacine, Glen (Carmita) Wright, Gary Wright, Susan (Amilcar) Lopez and Steven Wright; grandchildren Jermaine Blacine, Jeneane Blacine, Jeremiah Weis, Lisa Haun, Angela Weis, Timothy “T.T.” Strunk II, Laura Nash, Tania Wright, Shawn Wright, Ryan Edmond Nash, Hannah Weis, Adam Blacine, Jessie Nash, Calen Wright, and Parker Wright; great-grandchildren Jordon, Zoe, Alexia, Genevive, Skylar Jane, Ella, Blake and Anabelle; brothers and sisters Betty Comstock, Gerald Wright, Richard Wright, Bertha Jo (Tom) Ray, and David Wright; and lots of loved nieces and nephews .

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 35 years, Mary Jane (Dodd), in 2008; his sister, Florene Miller; and a brother, James Wright.
