Theresa Louise Tijan

GARDNER, Ill. — Mrs. Theresa Louise Tijan, 66, of Gardner, Ill., passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

She is survived by her dear loving husband James R. Tijan; one loving son, Kenneth E. “Rooster” Bannon III, and one loving grandson, Kenneth E. Bannon IV, both of Coal City, Ill.; her mother, May Louise (Carpenter) Kay; one sister, Diana L. Wilson; and one niece, Tammie (Kevin) Johnson of Diamond, Ill.; and two half sisters of Florida.

Theresa was preceded in death by her father, James P. Wilson of Florida; step-father Lester Keller of Gibson City, Ill. and Morris; and step-father Howard Kay of Morris.

Theresa attended Foosland and Gibson City schools and graduated from Mazon-Verona-Kinsman High School in the Class of 1964.

She was employed at General Electric Company for 25 years and Provena Service Corporation. She enjoyed volunteering at We Care of Grundy County, Morris Area Public Library, Morris Hospital, and The Saints (ushering at Chicago theaters). She enjoyed traveling to China, Italy and numerous places in the USA.

Cremation rites have been accorded and the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113) in Coal City.

Graveside services and inurnment will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 3, in Mount Hope Cemetery, Foosland, Ill.

Upon her being diagnosed with cancer, Theresa’s husband of 25 years took great care of her. Her friends also became family by helping to take her for chemo treatments.

A personal note from Theresa: Thank you to those who gave me a shoulder to cry on when I was down. You lifted my spirits and gave me hope.
