Fire heavily damages Minooka home

MINOOKA — A Minooka home sustained "heavy damage" in a fire Saturday morning, according to the Channahon Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded to the home at 212 Santos Avenue, which is in Minooka but falls under the jurisdiction of the Channahon Fire District, at 9:01 a.m. Saturday.

Heavy smoke and fire coming out of the rear of the home were visible upon arrival.

It took roughly an hour for responders to get the blaze under control.

It caused heavy damage to the house, but did not spread to neighboring residences.

No injuries were reported. A cat was rescued from the house.

Channahon was assisted by several area fire districts, including Morris, Minooka and Joliet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
