A little recognition goes a long way.
A pat on the back, high five, or a “great job,” can make the difference between a good and bad day, so just think what an award and luncheon recognizing someone’s accomplishments could do for their morale.
The Morris Daily Herald and Minooka-Chananhon Life recognize this and our team has made it their mission to not only acknowledge the good work of local women, but also to celebrate it.
We are currently accepting nominations through Thursday, Aug. 15, for our inaugural Women of Distinction award. Nominees should be women who make a difference in Grundy County and are role models in this community.
A committee will narrow down the nominees and choose three who will be recognized at a luncheon presented by Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers in October. It is here the recipients will be able to share their stories and be applauded for their accomplishments.
Those who live and work in Grundy County know what a pleasure it is to be a part of this community. We also know that this community is what is because of the people who live and breath Grundy County.
Making Grundy one-of-a-kind comes from the hard work of many individuals and the MDH hopes rewarding their efforts will go a long way toward keeping them motivated to continue their efforts in making this a great place to live and work.
In addition to presenting sponsor Morris Hospital, major sponsors Exelon Generation and the Great Joliet Area YMCA have joined the MDH in honoring these women, as have keynote sponsor Aurora University and luncheon sponsors Country Financial Terri Gilmoure and the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
We are so appreciative of these sponsors for supporting this award and sponsorship opportunities are still available for others who want to join us in celebrating our women leaders.
We all know a woman who is touching the lives of others and changing lives, but it is likely that we haven’t taken the time to stop and tell them how amazing they are for it.
The Women of Distinction award is your opportunity to have the community see what you see. Maybe it is your neighbor, the lady who sits next to you in church, your boss, a food pantry volunteer, your child’s crossing guard, or a committed board member.
Help us to give her the credit she deserves by nominating her.
Nomination forms can be picked up at the Morris Daily Herald, 1804 N. Division St., Morris, or printed from our website at morrisdailyherald.com. Look for the Women of Distinction logo on the right side of the homepage.
