More than one million military personnel are expected to enter the job market over the next few years; however, their valuable military-based experience is often misunderstood.
“From Soldier to Supervisor: Human Resource’s Role in Helping Veterans Transition into Corporate America” is a program designed to help human resources personnel better assess the skills and military experience of veteran job candidates to determine appropriate fits with positions available within their organizations.
Presenters Sabrina Baker, PHR, and Susan Avello will provide resources to help translate and understand military experience, as well as ideas for creating, implementing, and accessing a veterans’ hiring program. They will also discuss the realities of PTSD.
Baker, of Acacia HR Solutions, is a human resources consultant and social recruiter, and Avello is a social media and branding strategist.
The GWHRA is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. For more information about GWHRA or the upcoming program, call Toby Atkinson at 630-343-3126.
