Earl E. McComas
MORRIS, Ill. – Mr. Earl E. “Mickey” McComas, 92, of Morris, Ill., passed away with his loving family by his side Monday afternoon, July 1, 2013, at Morris Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, with Pastor Steve Larson officiating. There will be no visitation.
Born April 29, 1921, in Seneca, Ill., he was the son of John and Lola (Jacobs) McComas. He received his education in the schools of Morris.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War.
He married Pearl Edmunds on April 29, 1939, in Gardner, Ill. They lived all of their married life in Morris, Ill.
For several years, he was employed as a truck driver for Valley Trucking Company and the Morris Federal Paper Board.
Survivors include his one daughter, Sharon (Bill) Finfrock of Morris, Ill.; three sons, Kenneth McComas of Temple, Texas, Dennis (Diane) McComas of Morris, Ill., and Duane (Laurie) McComas of Morris, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Fred Pope of Morris, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife, Pearl, on Nov. 5, 2004; one son, Edward McComas in infancy; two grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Jacobs; and two sisters, Ethel Wiekert and Gwendolyn Sharpe.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 294, and John Martin Steel VFW Post 6049.
He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan who enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
