SENECA – A Ransom man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a rollover accident near Seneca, said to Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan.

The accident occurred on Illinois 170 and North 2350th Road, Callahan said. The driver, Mark Phelan, 47, was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the emergency room at Morris Hospital.

Preliminary findings indicate Phelan lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons while heading to work, Callahan said.

He suffered multiple blunt force injuries that resulted in his death.

Callahan’s office and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accident.
