Lisbon hosting annual Labor Day celebration

Events begin early Monday, last all day

A highlight of the annual Labor Day celebration in Lisbon will be the fifth annual Cruise-In Car Show.

Held in conjunction with a full day of holiday activities in Lisbon, the car show will take place from noon to 3:30 p.m. Monday at Lisbon Grade School. Cars should enter off Joliet Road.

The registration fee is $10 per entry and all makes and models are welcome. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. Vehicles must arrive by 2:30 p.m. to be judged, with awards at 3:30 p.m.

Scheduled events for the Labor Day celebration begin at 8 a.m. with coffee and rolls at the Village Hall. There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction hosted by the park committee. Available items will be on display at the Village Hall.

The parade line up is at the grade school parking lot at 8:30 a.m., judging is at 9 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 a.m.

Concessions will be available in the school yard until 3 p.m. A Traveling World of Reptiles show will be at the park from 10:45 a.m. to noon, and 2 to 3:15 p.m. Kids activities will be at the schoolyard from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the tractor show starts at 11 a.m. in the schoolyard.

Planned activities for children include dual lane slide, caterpillar with slide, bungee hoops run, football blitz, two obstacle courses, a sports arena, sports bounce house, Velcro wall, face painting and balloon art. Tickets will be sold. All proceeds go toward the future Lisbon Labor Day.

There will be a pork chop and chicken dinner served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the grade school.

The kids’ water fights begin at 11 a.m. at the Lisbon Fire Station. Registration for pedal pulls on Joliet Road is from 11:30 to noon, with the tractor pulls at noon.

The firemen’s water fights are at 1 p.m. at the fire station. The Park Committee will host Bingo at the village hall from 1:30 to 3 p.m. There will be music and food throughout the day.
