Nathan Gunn ran 15 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns and Minooka held off a late Morris charge to beat the Redskins 21-14 in Saturday's season opener. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Friday but was delayed to Saturday due to poor weather conditions.

Minooka struck quickly in the first quarter, scoring at 6:35 of the opening stanza on a 2-yard TD run by Gunn. Jacob Stytz added the PAT kick to make it 7-0. The second score came  four minutes later, this time on a pass from quarterback Shane Briscoe to Anthony Mack and Stytz's kick made it 14-0.

The game stayed that way until the final quarter.

Morris finally broke through and scored with 10:18 left in the game on a 9-yard TD run by Jacob Walker and Jake Reed's PAT kick made it 14-7. However, Minooka answered right back with a scoring drive that was culminated on an 8-yard run by Gunn and Stytz's kick brought the end to the Indians scoring.

The Redskins responded with a TD with a little under seven minutes to go when Walker scored from three yards away. Reed's PAT kick accounted for the 21-14 final score.
