JOLIET – The University of St. Francis Office of Mission Integration will present the ninth annual “Bishop Imesch Women in the Church Lecture” at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, in San Damiano Hall, located in the university’s Motherhouse, 520 Plainfield Road., Joliet.
Speaker Marlene Weisenbeck, OSF, will reflect on women religious, often seen as beacons of the blessing of justice in the areas of healing, hope, reconciliation and beauty.
Weisenbeck will show how women religious have been and will be involved in the collective transformation of structures and the work of creating structures of compassion, protection, healing and learning – structures in which the human family can find its belonging.
Weisenbeck is a member and past president of the Franciscan Sisters of LaCrosse, Wis., and served the presidency of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious from 2009 to 2011. Currently, she is a consultant on religious/canon law and has served on the White House Advisory Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships since July 2012.
