Sanita Group relocates to Silver Cross campus

Sanitas Medical Group – Laura Laura Scott, N.P., Jose Penaherrera, M.D., Daniel Ramirez, M.D. – will relocate their office to the new Silver Cross Hospital campus at Interstate 355 and U.S. 6 in New Lenox on Sept. 20.

NEW LENOX – Jose Penaherrera, M.D., Daniel Ramirez, M.D., and Laura Scott, N.P., are relocating their medical practice to the Silver Cross Hospital campus at Interstate 355 and U.S. 6 in New Lenox.

Beginning Friday, Sanitas Medical Group will see patients at their new office in Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., Suite 265, New Lenox. To schedule an appointment, call 815-727-4292 or visit www.sanitasmedicalgroup.org.

New patients are welcome. Sanitas Medical Group accepts most insurance and offers Saturday appointments. Free valet parking, wheelchair assistance and Pace Bus service are available.

They will continue to also see patients on the west side of Joliet in the Silver Cross Professional Building, 1051 Essington Road.

Penaherrera is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree in 1988 from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, where he served as chief resident and an assistant professor.

He has been on staff at Silver Cross Hospital since 1997. He currently serves as chairman of the Continuing Education Committee.

With a special interest in diabetes, cardiovascular and geriatric medicine, Penaherrera is trained to treat adults of all ages. He is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Ramirez is originally from Chicago and attended the University of Illinois, where he received his bachelor of science degree in biology. He worked at Northwestern University, doing microbiology research prior to attending medical school.

He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 2008, and went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center. Ramirez is board certified in internal medicine.

His interests include general adult medicine, diabetes and hypertension. He is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish.

Scott received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Illinois. She received her master of science degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the University of St. Francis in Joliet and is board certified as a family nurse practitioner.

Scott has worked as a nurse practitioner at Sanitas Medical Group since 2010. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Silver Cross Hospital for many years in various roles and was also employed by the Will Grundy Medical Clinic in Joliet for several years.

Scott treats adults and adolescents and has a special interest in smoking cessation, diabetes, heart disease and urgent care.
