Cut meat auction to be held during Corn Fest

Annual event planned in Farm Fair tent Saturday

Published: Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

Is that freezer getting a little low on steaks, hamburger, hams and chops? If so, visit the Farm Fair tent across from First Midwest Bank for the 4-H Federation cut meat auction during the Grundy County Corn Festival.

The auction will start at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 28. The 4-H will be auctioning off meat from animals that won awards at the annual Grundy County 4-H Fair in July.

The cut meat auction is made possible by livestock buyer who donated to purchase animals for the cut meat auction. These donors included Carey Trucking, Terry Seggebruch, Steve and Michelle Baudino, Baudino Show Cattle, Baudino Trucking, C&R Transfer, Siedentop Farms, Scott and Laurie Giordano, Ron and Lois Severson, Waupecan Cattle Company and Kinsella Farm.

Also donating were Frye Family Farm, Kevin and Tammy Halterman Farm, Kent Weber, Ship-N-Mail (Greg Granby), Mark Wills Pioneer Seed, F & F Farm (Paul and Jake Frobish), Phil & Karen McArdle/McArdle Grain, Bob Trewartha, Harlow Family, Roth Jorstad Insurance and Bedecker Farm.

This year, the cut meat auction has one steer, one swine and one sheep, which are all being processed by the Chenoa Locker Plant. The auction lots will usually contain a variety of meat cuts.

The proceeds will go to help the 4-H Federation with its activities and scholarships.
