JOLIET – NuMark Credit Union teamed up with Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to help make miracles happen.

Last week, a group of NuMark Credit Union staff members toured Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in preparation for their first Miracle Jeans Day fundraiser. This fundraiser encouraged employees to wear jeans to work Wednesday by donating to Lurie Children’s Hospital.

The hospital tour began under the signature whale sculpture in the main lobby and continued throughout various floors and showcased an array of children-themed areas. NuMark staff even had the opportunity to meet various hospital staff members.

“Every doctor, nurse and employee that I saw had a smile on his or her face,” said Jessica Mellen, NuMark Credit Union branch manager. “There was so much kindness in the little things, from holding doors, to waiting for the next elevator so that a patient and the patient’s family could go first.”

In addition to the staff, Lurie Children’s Hospital contains several themed children’s areas and even has an indoor park complete with live bamboo trees.

“I loved seeing the hospital,” said Linda Robinson, assistant branch manager. “I hope I never need to go there to see a sick child, but if I had a sick child, that is where I would want them to be. Everything is amazing and all about the kids.”

NuMark Credit Union participated in Miracle Jeans Day by donating $5 to the hospital. They encouraged members to donate to the cause as well.

Miracle Jean Day is just the first fundraiser planned. NuMark will continue to accept donations in the months to come.
