Child care can prevent crime
Cloonen meets with crime prevention organization
KANKAKEE – The vital roles early childhood programs and access to quality child care play in preventing crime were the topic of conversation for state Rep. Kate Cloonen during a recent meeting.
On Tuesday, Cloonen met with Tim Carpenter, state director of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois, along with Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jamie Boyd, Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland and Kankakee Police Chief Larry Regnier to discuss the issue.
The meeting also included conversations about increasing child abuse prevention awareness and the role afterschool programs play in keeping children and communities safe.
“As a public servant, it is important that I work with our area state’s attorneys, police chiefs and ‘Fight Crime’ programs to create meaningful policy that protects our district’s children and benefits our communities as a whole,” Cloonen said.
“This meeting was just one of many steps toward providing our communities with more resources for early childhood programs, and I will continue to be a strong advocate for our community.”
