KANKAKEE – As the General Assembly prepares to return to Springfield for the fall Veto Session, state Rep. Kate Cloonen is inviting residents to her Citizen Advisory Committee meetings in late October.
She plans to share updates with constituents and enlist their participation in the legislative process.
“The advisory committee meetings provide for an open discussion of current legislation that will impact our community and our state,” Cloonen said. “This third gathering will give us a chance to review potential legislation that may come before the General Assembly this fall. These meetings also provide an opportunity for members of the community to bring forward new ideas for possible legislation next Spring.”
Cloonen is encouraging local professionals, as well as constituents with direct knowledge or interest within the committee’s particular fields, to join her advisory committees. Participants do not need to be an expert in the field of any advisory committee.
Cloonen’s advisory committees will meet Oct. 29 and 30 in the Kankakee Public Library’s 3rd Floor Conference Room.
The various meetings slated for Oct. 29 include agriculture, 9 a.m.; education, 10 a.m.; health care, 11 a.m.; and public safety, noon. On Oct. 30, meetings are economic development, 9 a.m.; veterans, 10 a.m.; and seniors, 11 a.m.
“I have pledged to stay connected, open and accessible to our community. These meetings are another chance for me to meet face to face with constituents and discuss what is important to them,”Cloonen said. “I look forward to meeting with current members and strongly encourage new members to join.”
