JOLIET – Military veterans are invited to attend the Veteran Career and Education Fair from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Cantigny VFW, 825 Horseshoe Drive, Joliet.

The fair is hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary to Cantigny VFW, Joliet Junior College and Lewis University.

Veterans who plan on attending this event are encouraged to register at www.vfw367.org. The event is free.

The Career and Education Fair will offer a resume workshop, on-site testing with CMS State of Illinois Jobs, an opportunity to translate military MOS to civilian job descriptions and other resources, such as the Will and Grundy VAC and Team Rubicon, whose mission is to unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.

In addition, the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services will be conducting onsite testing for all state of Illinois jobs and careers, something that normally requires a scheduled appointment and a trip to downtown Chicago, Springfield or Champaign.

Veterans should bring their resumes and dress professionally for the fair. Employers at the fair will include Signal 88 Security, Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Hollywood Casino.
