PONTIAC (MCT) — A man accused of killing his mother and brother before shooting himself at a Pontiac motel pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Livingston County Circuit Court.

Cody Hetherington, 27, of Pontiac is charged with the first-degree murder of Jean Corrice, 57, and Tyler Friant, 22, on Aug. 20 at the Palomar Motel.

Woodford County-based Associate Judge Charles Feeney was named earlier this month to handle the case.

Feeney on Tuesday set the case for the Jan. 6 trial calendar and scheduled the next hearing for Nov. 14.

The suspect was hospitalized for several weeks with severe head wounds before his arrest late last month.
