DIAMOND – Teresa Kernc, mayor of Diamond, has been named a vice president of the Illinois Municipal League.
The IML held its 100th annual conference earlier this month in Chicago, according to a news release from the organization, in which more than 1,500 people attended.
The conference provides education and in-depth working sessions to learn about new laws and responsibilities for municipalities and municipal officials.
It’s also where new officers are selected to lead the IML’s 1,124 municipal membership. Kernc was one of 36 people elected to a vice president leadership role.
“I am honored to represent my community and region in this premier statewide municipal organization and will dedicate my time to being a strong vote for them,” she said in the news release.
Kernc has been mayor of Diamond since 2009. She also is vice president of the Will County Governmental League and serves on the board of the Grundy County Economic Development Council.
