District 54 celebrating Principal Appreciation today
MORRIS – Gov. Pat Quinn has proclaimed today as Principal Appreciation Day and encourages all communities in Illinois to participate.
Morris District 54 wants to join in by recognizing the principals of Shabbona Middle School and White Oak Elementary School.
“Principals are individuals who started off in education as teachers, with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of their students,” Kevin Shelton, president of the Illinois Principals Association, said in a news release from District 54.
“As they progressed in their careers, they assumed leadership positions that extended beyond the classroom.”
Principal Appreciation Day provides an opportunity for parents, students and teachers to acknowledge how important these role models are.
In District 54, the team consists of District Principal Chris Maier, Shabbona Associate Principal Tom McLaughlin and White Oak Associate Principal Chris Popidinski.
“As a community, we would like to extend a generous ‘thank you’ to our principals for their hard work, endless patience, and dedication to the students and staff,” the district said in the news release. “Mr. Maier, Mr. McLaughlin and Mr. Popidinski each have an important role in shaping the way our schools operate and the excellent education our children receive. This Friday, take a moment to acknowledge the principals in your school, and show your appreciation.”
