CHANNAHON – A team from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, provided by the Illinois Association Chiefs of Police, will arrive Nov. 7 to examine all aspects of the Channahon Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, according to a news release from the department.
“The Channahon Police Department has been an accredited agency since 2009,” Chief Jeff Wold said in the news release. “I am very proud of all of our department members for their professionalism and commitment to serving the village of Channahon.”
As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community may offer comments to the assessment team by calling 815-467-8354 from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 7. Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and should address the agency’s ability to comply with the ILEAP standards.
Copies of the standards are available at the Channahon Police Department, 24555 S. Navajo Drive, Channahon, IL 60410, or by calling Sgt. Jon Jackubowski at 815-467-5152.
Wold said the department has to comply with 71 standards to gain accreditation, and said the process “demonstrates the agency’s commitment to the community, makes the agency more accountable for its actions and limits liability and risk exposure.”
In 2009, the Channahon Police Department was the first police department in Will or Grundy counties to be awarded accreditation by the ILEAP.
