MINOOKA — An unspecified threat on social media to Minooka Community High School has proven to be "not viable," according to the school's principal.

The rumor of a possible threat that surfaced on a social media channel was brought to the school's attention Wednesday evening by the Minooka Police Department, according to a letter from Principal Darcie Kubinski posted on the school's website.

The threat was determined to be not viable, police interviewed individuals associated with the rumor, and the situation was contained, Kubinski said in the letter.

At no time Thursday was the safety or security of students and staff in question, Kubinski said in the letter. Students at both campuses were read an announcement about the situation, a School Messenger blast was sent to all families and there was an increased police presence Thursday morning student arrival at South Campus.
