Dolores N. Varland, 89, of Morris, Ill., passed away Friday morning, Nov. 1, 2013, at Rivershores Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre in Marseilles, Ill., with her loving family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Grace Lutheran Church, 10025 N. Route 47 in Morris, with the Rev. Steven Heilmann and Duane Keck officiating. The visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, Ill.
Born Dec. 24, 1923, in Oketo, Kan., she was the daughter of Casper and Ida (Weber) Keck. She graduated from Ottawa Township High School with the Class of 1942. Dolores married Allen Varland on Dec. 21, 1947, in Ottawa, and for most of their married life they farmed in Nettle Creek Township.
Survivor’s include her children, Larry Varland of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Sally Varland of Morris, and Nancy (Ray) Guerrero of Morris; four grandchildren, Nicole LaVarier and Melissa, George and Sandy Guerrero; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Duane (Doris) Keck of Mary Ester, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Griffee of Marysville, Kan., and Donna Axelton of North Bend, Ore.; two sisters-in-laws, Jeanette Keck of Hammett, Idaho, and Wilma Lois Keck of Castro Valley, Calif; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Allen, on May 2, 1990; and four brothers, Don, Daryl, Dale and Dean Keck.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
