Seneca Park and Recreation offering shopping trip

SENECA – Seneca Park and Recreation is offering a holiday shopping trip to Chicago on Dec. 5. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the Kraus parking lot next to the village hall and is scheduled to leave Chicago at 6 p.m. There is no charge for village residents; nonresidents pay a $20 fee. Spaghetti supper to benefit child who had heart transplant

COAL CITY – Sulphur Springs Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society is hosting a benefit spaghetti supper for Kaysen VandeWerken from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Coal City Lions Hall, 460 S. Illinois Ave. Kaysen, daughter of Megan and Steve VandeWerken and granddaughter of Pam and Tim Dearth, was born July 26; she received a new heart Sept. 14. All profits will go to the family for medical expenses. Carry outs available. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger. Seneca Lions holding food drive

SENECA – The Seneca Lions Club will hold its annual Food Pantry Drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The club will be located in the empty lot across from the Marathongas station. Residents may drop off any canned or box foods, paper products and monetary donations. All donations will be delivered to the Seneca Food Pantry the same day.

Soil Health session to be held in Dwight

DWIGHT – A Soil Health seminars is set for 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Dwight Country Club, 31577 N 2400 East Road. The seminars are open to anyone wanting to learn more about soil health, and practices that will help improve it. The seminar is to inform Certified Crop Advisers, farmers, agri-business people and others. Contact the Grundy County SWCD at 815-942-0359, ext. 3 for informationor to register.

Kinzinger's office to hold traveling office hours

OTTAWA – The office of U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, will hold traveling office hours throughout the 16th District in order to meet with constituents. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist constituents with issues ranging from veterans and senior benefits to immigration and health care issues. No appointments necessary. The office will be in Grundy County from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Community Room at Morris City Hall, 700 N. Division St.

Rezin to hold senior health fair

PERU – State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, is holding a free Senior Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at The Eagles, 830 Harrison, Peru. There will be more than 50 participants at the fair with various information on state, local, and private programs. Free screenings also will be offered, including flu shots, bone density screening, blood sugar screening, blood pressure screening and more. Information on hospice, assisted living, nursing homes, adult daycare, safety, nutrition and more will be available.
