Morris girls lose at Hawks Thanksgiving tournament

At the Prairie Central Tournament on Tuesday, the Morris girls basketball team lost to the hosting Hawks by a 62-44 score.

In the other game at the tournament, Peoria beat Flanagan-Cornell 56-51.

Prairie Central 62,

Morris 44

Julie Jurasits and Jade Fischer had eight points apiece for Morris in the loss. Katie Friend added six points and Jessica Ponce, Alex Kjellesvik and Devin Pacheco had five points each.

Ridgeview 51,

Gardner-South Wilmington 44, 3 OT

In triple overtime, Ridgeview prevailed.

For GSW, Lexi Posing had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Sophie Barna had 13 points and 17 rebounds and Breanna Fisher had 14 rebounds and eight steals.

“What I really think was the key factor in us losing was the fact that we had 35 turnovers,” GSW coach Adam Leigh said. “

You can’t expect to win games with that many turnovers.”

Seneca 50,

Somonauk 25

Anna Baker had 12 points and Rylee Anderson had 11 points in the win by the Lady Irish. Nine different players scored for Seneca on the night.

“We had some balanced scoring tonight,” Seneca coach Barb Beck said. “We hit both ends of the glass hard, which was nice to see.”

Seneca ended with 39 rebounds total with Danielle Hauch and Anderson pulling in eight each.

Gibson City 48,

Dwight 27

Alyson Wiemken had five points and five rebounds in the loss for the Trojans. Hannah Trainor, Savannah Baldauf and Erica Flynn had four points each.

SOPHOMORES

Coal City 22,

Sandwich 21

Carli McGinn scored nine points and Taylor Meents had six points in the win by the Lady Coalers at the Seneca Tournament.

BOYS BOWLING

Minooka 2,985,

Oswego East 2,685

Freshman Kai Devine had a 660 series to lead the Indians.

Alex Guglielmucci had a 616 series and John Kauffman had a 605.

IN JV action, Minooka won 2,849-2,007 behind a 589 by Austin Schomig.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Seneca 34,

Marseilles 30

Jalyn Campbell had 10 points and Erik Bendt had eight points in the win by the Raiders.

In the seventh grade contest, Seneca won 24-22 behind six points each from Nate Armbrust and Logan Bruss.

Elwood 26,

Seneca 21

Bendt had nine points and Cody Altman four in the loss.

In the seventh grade game, Elwood won 23-14 with Ambrust leading the way with six points.
