Grundy County judge attends conference
Judge Sheldon R. Sobol – an associate judge in the 13th Judicial Circuit, Grundy County – recently attended the 2013 Advanced Judicial Academy at the University of Illinois Law School.
Attendees included Illinois judges form both the trial and appellate courts. The four-day conference addressed a variety of topics, which impact the trial process and how they affect witnesses, jurors and judges. The program was designed to emphasize sound judicial decision-making.
Attendance at the Advanced Judicial Academy offered Judge Sobol a unique opportunity to gain insight into topics, which covered a broad range of subjects and offered different perspectives as to how to ensure a just solution to numerous problems that judges face on a daily basis.
“The presenters possessed a variety of backgrounds and impressive credentials. However, the sessions where the Illinois judges met in assigned groups on a daily basis in which we discussed the day’s topics were particularly helpful,” Sobol said in a news release. “
“It was interesting to see that judges in Cook and DuPage counties encounter the same problems that judges in smaller counties such as Grundy and Livingston encounter.”
