Home for the Holidays' schedule of events

The annual Home for the Holidays starts Friday in downtown Morris. Events are as follows:

FRIDAY • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Grundy County Historical Society, Grundy County Historical Society Museum, 510 W. Illinois

• All day — Morris retailers’ open house. Festive music will fill the streets. Shop local on Black Friday! Downtown Morris

• Noon to 4 p.m. — Gift wrapping, local Girl Scouts will wrap your gifts. Donations accepted. 318 Liberty St.

• Noon to 5 p.m. — Christmas picture opportunity, Carpetile, 423 Liberty St.

• 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Lantern making (free!). A parent or adult must remain with children. Eagle’s Hall, 120 Liberty St.

• 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Enchanting horse drawn carriage rides (free!) Washington and Franklin

• 4 to 6 p.m. — Hot apple cider, compliments of First Baptist Church Outreach, 215 N. Liberty St.

• 4:45 p.m. — Children’s Lantern Parade, Eagle’s Hall, 120 N. Liberty St.

• 5 p.m. — Annual Lighted Holiday Parade. Don’t miss Santa’s arrival in Morris! Liberty Street from the courthouse to Chapin Park

• 5:30 p.m. — Lighting of Chapin Park, Chapin and Wauponsee streets

• 6 to 7 p.m. — Visit Santa at his house. Bring your camera and get a picture with Santa! Canalport Plaza, Liberty Street and Illinois Avenue

• 6 to 8 p.m. — Friday night fish fry, open to the public. Eagle’s Hall, 120 N. Liberty St.

• All day — Nostalgic Window Walk and Beautiful Window Displays Downtown Morris

• After Dark — Luminaries, provided by Girl Scouts, lining downtown Morris

SATURDAY

• All day — Morris retailers’ open house continues. Visit your favorite retailers on “Small Business Saturday.” Festive music will fill the streets. Downtown Morris

• 8:30, 9, 9:30, 10 and 10:30 a.m. — Breakfast with Santa (free!). Limited seating, call 815-942-6880 for reservations after Nov. 1, Bring your camera! Morris Public Library, 604 N. Liberty St.

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Grundy County Historical Society, Grundy County Historical Society Museum, 510 W. Illinois

• 10 a.m. — Children’s theater (free!). Veggie Tales: “The Little Drummer Boy,” Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 E. Jefferson St.

• 10 a.m. to noon — Santa and his reindeer. Bring your camera! Grundy County Courthouse lawn

• 10 a.m. to noon — Hot apple cider, compliments of First Baptist Church Outreach. Grundy County Courthouse lawn

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Christmas picture opportunity, Carpetile, 423 Liberty St.

• 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Children’s Winter Carnival (free!). Fun and games for children. A parent or adult must remain with children. Eagle’s Hall, 120 Liberty St.

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Trolley Rides (free!). Join Mickey, Minnie and other characters for rides through downtown Morris. Franklin and Washington

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Christmas House Walk and Complimentary Tea. Four homes beautifully decorated for the season. Tea Hosted by Immaculate Conception Church, 600 E. Jackson

• Noon to 2 p.m. — Grundy Bank Annual Coat Drive. Donate a new or used coat for area residents in need. Grundy Bank, 201 Liberty St.

• 12:30 to 4 p.m. — Lamplight Singers. Victorian caroling quartet strolling through downtown Morris.

• After Dark — Luminaries, provided by Girl Scouts, lining the homes on the House Walk

SUNDAY

• All Day — Morris retailers’ open house continues. Festive music will fill the streets. Downtown Morris

• 1 to 3 p.m. — Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Grundy County Historical Society, Grundy County Historical Society Museum, 510 W. Illinois
