Pecan halves for sale

‘A Night in Bethlehem’ to be held at Morris church

MORRIS – The First Presbyterian Church of Morris, 200 E. Jackson, invites the community to experience “A Night in Bethlehem” from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. 65th Scandinavian
Christmas Program set

SENECA – Stavanger Lutheran Church, 2904 N. 32nd Road, is presenting its 65th annual Scandinavian Christmas Program at 7 p.m. Sunday. Singers and musicians from the area will perform. The congregation – dressed in Norwegian attire – also will sing several Christmas carols. The program will end with audience participation in singing carols. Trinity Lutheran holding cookie drive Sunday

MARSEILLES – Trinity Lutheran Church once again will be sponsoring a cookie drive. Cookies will be packaged and distributed to patients of local nursing homes, the Veterans Hospital in LaSalle, the Youth Detention Home and P.A.D.S. in Ottawa, the Armory in Streator and the National Guard Unit in Marseilles. About 9,000 to 10,000 cookies are needed. Cookies cannot contain fruit or nuts. Cookies may be delivered to the church at 621 Union St. on Sunday. Cookies will be counted and packed at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Midweek advent worship

MORRIS – Grace Lutheran Church will gather at 7 p.m. Wednesday. In Mark 6:31, Jesus invited his disciples to “come away” during a very hectic time of ministry. Advent worship is a time to do just that – come away for a short time and focus on the reason for the season. Grace Lutheran is right across from Morris Airport, north on Route 47.

at Living Water Church

United Methodist church to hold supper Dec. 7

COAL CITY – Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Road, invites the community to its December “Hallelujah” soup supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7. Cost is $8 for those ages 13 and older, $4 for children ages 6 to 12, $2 for children ages 3 to 5; free for children age 2 and younger. Each meal includes soup, a sandwich, crackers, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. Carry outs will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door, and proceeds go to the church’s building fund. Sunshine Circle will be having a Holiday Cookie Sale during supper, with homemade cookies at $6.

Breakfast with St. Nick Dec. 7 at St. Paul in Joliet

JOLIET – St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School is hosting a Breakfast with St. Nicholas from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at 130 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet. Terry Lynch, a professional actor from Histories for Kids Presents, will perform “The Legend of St. Nicholas,” a one-man show, at 9 a.m. A photo opportunity with St. Nicholas will follow the presentation. Yorkville Congregational Church holds cookie drive

YORKVILLE – Yorkville Congregational Church will hold its third annual Cookie Walk from 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 7. Items will be sold for $7 a pound. Let us do your Christmas cookie and candy baking for you. Come pick out your favorites. Proceeds will go to a special mission project. The church is at 409 Center Parkway in Yorkville.

First Presbyterian Church musical event Dec. 8

MORRIS – A holiday event featuring local musical talent will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church 200 E. Jackson St. Morris. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 12 and younger. Refreshments will be served. Proceeds fund scholarships for deserving musical students. Contact the Rev. Worship choir concert

United Methodist holding thrift shop events

CHANNAHON – The Channahon United Methodist Church – Thrift Shop, 24751 W. Eames, Channahon, is holding a 10-cent sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 12 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16. This will be the last days the thrift shop will be open before the holidays.

United Methodist is
holding a cookie walk

CHANNAHON – United Methodist Women of Channahon United Methodist church is hosting its ninth annual UMW Cookie Walk starting at 9 a.m. Dec. 14. The event will continue until the cookies are gone. Cost is $12.50 a bucket, which holds about two pounds.

Attendees will get 50-cents off if they bring a bucket from last year’s event. Call 815-467-5275 for information.
