MORRIS – Kerry Dite was recently nominated and chosen to receive November’s Hard Working Woman’s Award.
Dite is a longtime employee of District 54’s Shabbona Office team, joining in 1997.
Dite always is professional, polite, upbeat and willing to help with any situation she can, according to a news release announcing the award.
Kerry goes above and beyond to help any child who experiences any kind of a need, whether it be with lunch money, supplies, books for pleasure reading or maybe just a needed smile.
The award was presented to Dite on Nov. 6 by Cheryl Kingsbury – who nominated Kerry for the award – and Jonelle Carter – owner of Roots Hair Studio.
Those in attendance for the presentation were Associate Principal Tom McLaughlin, board members Jerry White and Bonnie Cap, as well as Health Aide and Karen Kenney.
The award was created by Carter.
“Roots Hair Studio’s mission has never been solely about physical beauty. We believe that nurturing the human spirit is one of the healthiest and best ways to feel beautiful from the inside out,” Carter said in the news release.
“With that mission in mind, we came up with the idea to celebrate women in our community who go above and beyond in their everyday lives and the idea for the Root’s Hair Studio’s Hard Working Woman’s Award came to life.”
When Cheryl Kingsbury, employee at Tips & Toes, learned of the award, she knew she wanted to nominate someone from Shabbona.
Knowing how hard Kerry works and having a constant positive attitude, Kingsbury felt Kerry would be a perfect candidate for receiving such an award.
“We surprise the recipient at work, home or wherever their hard work is being done with a certificate of achievement, flowers, balloons, a gift certificate for a complimentary scalp massage, haircut and style and a gift certificate for a no chip manicure from Tips N Toes,” Carter said.
If you know of someone who is deserving of the of the Hard Working Woman’s Award you can nominate them by stopping at Roots Hair Studio 224 W. Washington St. in Morris, or by calling 815-941-2329.
