MORRIS – The 13th Judicial Circuit – which encompasses Bureau, Grundy and LaSalle counties – has received an Illinois Redeploy Grant to provide support for services to delinquent teenagers ages 13 to 18, according to a news release from Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland.
The goal of Illinois Redeploy is to keep youth in their communities instead of sending them to the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. The funds provided to Grundy County will help fill gaps in the existing programs and services, allowing counties to better serve youth locally.
Helland said he looks forward to being able to offer these services in Grundy County.
Redeploy Illinois allows counties to connect each teenager to an array of needed services and supports within his or her home community, as indicated through an individualized needs assessment, according to the news release. Services are provided in the least restrictive manner possible and include case management, court advocacy, education assistance, individual, family and group counseling and crisis intervention.
Redeploy sites have reduced juvenile commitments to the state by at least 25 percent, according to the news release.
