MORRIS – A benefit dinner will be held Christmas Day at Turtle’s Tap in Morris for anyone who needs it.

“It’s for anybody who has nowhere to go. That’s the main idea of it. We don’t want anyone to be alone for Christmas,” Turtle’s Tap General Manager Diane Eartly said. “Santa is here. Everyone gets a gift. ... It’s all Turtle’s idea.”

Volunteers help serve the meal, she said. The meal is paid for, Eartly said, by the donations made in the fountain in the restaurant’s dining room.

The meal has been served since 1997, she said, and attracts hundreds of people each year.

The turkey dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Turtle’s Tap, 1400 N. Division St. in Morris. Call 815-942-3664.
