Volunteer Service Awards now accepting nominations

Gov. Pat Quinn and the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service are accepting nominations for the Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards.

The awards recognize individual volunteers in several categories who provide selfless service to the state and to highlight the importance of volunteerism and community service, according to a new release from Quinn’s office. Businesses that support community service also will be recognized.

Nominations are due by Jan. 31. Visit serve.Illinois.gov for the nomination forms and information. 

Recipients will be notified by April 1.

The Serve Illinois Commission is a 40-member, bi-partisan board appointed by the governor and administered by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
