MORRIS – The Grundy County Health Department is offering a seven-session adult smoking cessation program this month.

The Freedom From Smoking classes will begin at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Grundy County Administration Center, 1320 Union St. in Morris. The cost is $25 and you must preregister at the Grundy County Health Department, located in the same building by Jan. 24 to participate. The classes last about an hour and a half.

The $25 includes a workbook and relaxation CD. Cash or checks made payable to the Grundy County Health Department are accepted. A minimum of six participants are needed to host the class.

The Freedom From Smoking program follows a positive behavior change model that has proven very effective in helping people quit smoking. The program is created to help you develop your own quitting plan, deal with recovery symptoms and prepare to resist the urge to smoke.

Professionally trained by the American Lung Association, facilitators Cara Anderson and Paula Goodwin will be available to assist you.

To register, or for information, call Cara Anderson at 815-941-3128 or Paula Goodwin at 815-941-3130.
