MORRIS – The physicians of Rezin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine are pleased to announce the winners of their 11th annual medical scholarships.
The two $1,000 scholarships are offered every May to individuals living in the counties of DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Livingston, Putnam or Will who will be or are currently enrolled in any field of medicine at any university or community college, according to a news release.
“There was a highly impressive group of 64 applicants this year, making the selection process very difficult for the Board of Directors,” said Robert Alaimo, director of marketing for Rezin Orthopedics.
“It is truly encouraging every year to see so many bright, enthusiastic and involved people perusing medical careers.”
This year, Rachael Neuhalfen of Morris and Hannah Mehochko of Mazon were chosen to receive the awards.
They were each awarded $1,000 to be used to help with the costs associated with their education.
Neuhalfen is a graduate of Morris Community High School and is presently enrolled at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, studying bio-medical engineering and pre-med.
She plans to pursue a medical career as a specialist physician.
Mehochko is a graduate of Seneca High School and is currently enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
She is studying nursing and will pursue a career as a certified nurse practitioner.
Applications and guidelines for the scholarships will be available after May 1 at www.rezinortho.com.
Completed applications must be received by July 30.
