State Rep. John Anthony, R-Plainfield, joined representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Exelon Braidwood Generating Station to tour the Braidwood nuclear facility Wednesday.

BRAIDWOOD – State Rep. John Anthony, R-Morris, and House Republican Leader Jim Durkin, R-Western Springs, joined representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Exelon Braidwood Generating Station to tour the Braidwood nuclear facility Wednesday.

The legislators were given access to view first-hand the security measures in place to protect the nuclear plant and its employees, as well as the daily operations that keep the plant up and running.

“As a former police officer, I was very impressed with the level of security that they have in place and the professionalism of those charged with the protection of the Braidwood nuclear plant,” Anthony said in a news release. “When I visited the control room I was able to see all the backup measures that are in place in case of an emergency; it definitely reinforced my view that nuclear energy is one of the best and safest forms of energy that we have available.”

Anthony represents the 75th district, which has three nuclear power plants, more than any other district in Illinois.
